Overview

 !nstallation service for NetApp equipment.

 The NetApp All Flash FAS Standard Switched Cluster Installation Service for C190/A2XX/A3XX/A4XX systems includes the planning, installation, base configuration, and verification necessary to install a new NetApp AFF-S controller. 

This installation is scheduled and performed during normal Business Hours.

CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Sufficient rack space and power in the datacenter to install and power the AFF-S system. Please reference the System Configuration Workbook for Power and Rack requirements for your environment.

• AFF-S Configuration Worksheet to be completed by Engineer and Customer on Design Call.

• All Customers must register an account on the NetApp Website here http://now.netapp.com so they have access to download their software. Your controller serial number will be required to register and can be found on the Sales Order as well as on the side of the box the controller came in. It will take at least 24 hours in order for NetApp to validate your credentials.

• SnapDrive may be part of the implementation. If so, the Engineer will assist in this installation while onsite.

• Outbound/Upstream network connectivity is in place and configured prior to the engineer being onsite

• Host, Switches, and HBA’s Hardware and FW versions are validated by the customer through the NetApp Interoperability Matrix at http://now.netapp.com/matrix for Server model and BIOS, OS Patch level, HBA Driver, and Firmware version and updated as needed. Host network and Fabric connectivity is configured and in place prior to engineer being onsite.

• Pre-Site Survey Implementation Guide Worksheet to be filled out by End User (NetApp System Installation Workbook) prior to onsite arrival.

• Requires Hardware to be ordered as a Clustered system

• Data OnTap Cluster-Mode Discovery Questionnaire prepared by the SE & End User prior to onsite arrival, which provides first cut information about the infrastructure and customer requirements to the professional services team.

Initiation Phase – Project Kickoff

Setup Customer Kickoff Introduction Meeting

• Propose preliminary dates for engineer call and onsite service

• Assign Resources and Schedule Design Call;

• Send out Kickoff Meeting minutes with Action items.

Consultation with the customer to understand how the system is going to be used:

• Disk Assignment

• Number and size of Aggregates

Verification and Validation

• Verify the system can see all of the connected disk drives

• Assign the disk drives to each controller – as directed by the customer

• Verify the version of Data ONTAP

• Verify all configured Ethernet network interfaces (individual and ifgrp) are configured correctly as per the customer requirements: IP address, media type, flow control and speed

• For clustered systems, verify they have partner interfaces for failover

• Verify AutoSupport is configured and functions properly

• Verify that telnet and RSH is disabled and SSH is enabled – as directed by customer

• Protocol Verification – the following will be performed if the protocol is licensed and utilized at the customer site.

CIFS

• Create up to 3 CIFS Shares per Design Document

• Work with customer to map the shares to a host, write data to them.

NFS

• Create up to 3 NFS Exports and set proper permissions Per DesignDocument. Work with customer to mount the exports to a host, write data to it.

iSCSI

• Verify that an iSCSI host attach or support kit has been installed on the host

• If the customer is licensed for SnapDrive, verify SnapDrive is installed on the host

• Create a igroups, and LUN’s on the NetApp storage system per the DesignDocument

• Have the customer establish an iSCSI session from the host

• Have the customer create a file system on the LUN and, write some data to it

• Have the customer reboot the host and confirm the LUN is still attached.

FCP

• Verify that an FCP host utility kit has been installed on the host

• Create a igroup, and LUN on the system per the Design Document

• Have the customer rescan Host Disk Management for new Disks

• Have the customer create a file system on the LUN and, write some data to it

• Have the customer reboot the host and confirm the LUN is still attached.

Run the Config Advisor tool to ensure the shelf cabling is correct.

Assist the customer in registering for their NOW account.

Register the just installed AFFS to the customers NOW account.

Perform overview of OnCommand System Manager – this is intended to explain thebasic functions of managing their new system.

Storage Configuration

• Review Host Configuration Worksheet (filled out by end user with the details of the storage requirements for each host that will be attached to the AFFS)

• Provision NetApp storage for a maximum of 3 WinTel or ESX Servers per the Design Document

• For Windows hosts install the below software as required 

– If iSCSI protocol will be used – install iSCSI Host Utilities 

– If FCP will be used – install FC Host Utilities 

– If FCP will be used – Install DSM MPIO Software

• Configure a maximum of 2 Aggregates Per 

Controller Per the Design Document

• Configure a maximum of 3 Volumes Per Controller per the Design Document

• Configure a maximum of 3 LUN’s.

Set up NETAPP Virtual Storage Console (VSC)

• Install VSC Software plug-in (VMware ONLY)

• Register VSC with vCenter Server

• Discover and Add purchased storage array.

Storage ProvisioningKnowledge Transfer / Hands-On Training

• Storage Provisioning overview training

• Instructional session on storage provisioning GUI and CLI

• Instructional session where the customer will create volumes in preparation for use with protocols.

ASSUMPTIONS

• Arrow engineers will have the appropriate level of physical as well as remote access to customer staff and hardware as required to complete the project

• Requires Hardware to be ordered as a Clustered system with approved CD2Q NetApp registration form

• All Equipment and licenses will be onsite prior to implementation

• All network connections will be in place

• All work will be completed in one physical 

ENGAGEMENT PLANNING & MANAGEMENT

The following planning tasks will be performed:

• Minimum lead time for scheduling is 10 business days, all work done during business hours 

– Additional fee for expedited scheduling of less than 10 business days will apply 

– Additional fee for onsite services outside of standard delivery map 

– Additional fee for services outside of business hours

• Coordinate kickoff and close out calls

• Create/distribute escalation and contact lists

• Facilitate Change Orders.

OUT OF SCOPE

• Configuration, installation, or testing of any portion of the data network

• Implementing software to provide backup and recovery functions

• Migration of any Data

• Any additional hardware, software, or network configuration.

• Any change to the hardware, software, or network configuration.

• Modification of the customer’s application software.

• Fabric switch zoning (unless applicable to switch install SKU)

• Active Directory tasks

• DNS tasks

• Host level support.

• Development of custom solutions including without limitation, scripting, reporting, alerting

• Multiple, basic installation services requiring project management services.

• Validating or verifying optimal application environment operations.

• Troubleshooting existing problems or issues.

• Trash Removal (unless customer provides access to on-site).
